Project Details
The Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail sits on 19-miles of rolling hills and features breathtaking views of Grand Traverse Bay at almost every turn. We feel really fortunate to live close by, because it’s one of our absolute favorite places to spend an afternoon.
In 2019, the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail was going through a re-branding process. They were changing their name, logo, the organization’s look-and-feel, and their website. Several of our winery clients have establishments located along the Wine Trail and they recommended that the board reach out to us for their website development needs.
We were excited to be considered for the project because we’re all about helping our clients grow their businesses, and a project like this allows us to help in a lot of different ways. So we met with the team, rolled-up our sleeves and got to work!
Features
Online Store
The Wine Trail put on a lot of really cool events each year and needed a way to sell tickets, souvenirs, and swag! So we added and eCommerce store, a ticketing system, and integrated the whole site with EventBrite.
Events Aggregator
The Wine Trail is home to 10-wineries, each with their own events, customers, and social feeds. To make sure that visitors were up-to-date with all this activity we added event and social aggregators for each winery.
Interactive Map
This website features an interactive map of the Old Mission Peninsula with each of the 10-wineries marked for easy navigation. We also added at-a-glance information about each of the properties.

How it helped
Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail was having a difficult time managing their original site. The CMS was tough to understand and things were a bit to “clunky” and management took way too much time. So we worked with their team to develop a WordPress based website with all the features, information, and bells-and-whistles necessary to attract more visitors to the trail and give the wineries more business.
Features include:
- Aggregated Instagram feeds
- Custom video enabled header
- Fully-integrated winery event calendars
- EventBrite integration
- Fully functional online store
- Interactive trail map
- “Open Now” automated scheduler
- Winery specific contact forms
- And so much more…
Working with the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail team was an absolute treat, our partnership couldn’t have been better, and we look forward to working with them on future projects! We think they liked working with us too!
“Working with Freshwater on a complete website overhaul was truly a pleasure; they made what can be a long and fatiguing process impossibly easy and our new site is lightyears beyond where we started. Highly recommend this team!” – Alaina Korreck
